Specialized ABA Therapy for Young Children

Connect. Embrace. Liberate. Love.

Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention (NDBI)

This service is intended for those who have received an early childhood mental health diagnosis, primarily autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention or Applied Behavior analysis (ABA) is the recommended intervention for young children with an ASD diagnosis. The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is a comprehensive approach that encompasses a developmental curriculum that defines the skill to be taught using a specified set of teaching procedures used to elicit these skills. It is implemented throughout the child's daily routines to boost children's social-emotional, cognitive, and language skills and focuses on these core areas:

Key Components of NDBI

  • Naturalistic applied behavioral analytic strategies

  • Sensitive to normal developmental sequence

  • Deep parental involvement

  • Focus on interpersonal exchange and positive affect

  • Shared engagement with joint activities

  • Language and communication taught inside a positive, affect-based relationship

How ESDM Supports Child Development

Within the ESDM model, children learn how to develop routines within their day and include their regular activities like play, daily care routines (feeding, bathing, diapering, dressing), books, outdoor activities, etc. Parents learn these techniques through regular, ongoing parent support sessions, then the delivery of the model is carried out within these activities via parent or other professional in the child's home, school, clinic, or most often a combination of all of those settings. Ongoing services typically occur 3-6 hours per week with the behavior analyst, and as many as 20-25 hours with behavior technicians. We do not have a set schedule but work with each family to determine what clinical needs the child has and develop the treatment plan with the family. We have clinic services in Dallas (75225) and Plano (75093) and also serve patients 3 years and under in their preschool and home settings*. Provider will coordinate with other service providers, daycares, or preschools.
